So, I wasn't going to get too political on my website, but I found some interesting information that everyone should regardless of your party.  Click the link below to read more:

I see that it's been awhile since I last updated.  Sorry about that.  Life happens, you know.

A few things have happened since July.  School started for the kids - Ezra is now a senior and Thomas is in seventh grade.  So far, things are going okay.

The first week of September was spent on a Caribbean cruise.  Yes, we managed to dodge the hurricanes, although we did have one rough day on the outer edges of Hanna.  Not bad, though.  The weather was nice, otherwise, and St. Thomas and St. Maarten were beautiful.  Had a great time and really enjoyed the sun and warm weather.  It was a good family vacation.

Not too much has been happening since our return, just school and work.  Ezra registered to vote and signed up for selective service.  He's eighteen now.  Hard to believe.

The Holiday Bazaar held in Raven Hall on the fairgrounds will be October 25th & 26th.  I will have a table and will be holding my first book signing.  So, if you happen to be in Palmer, stop by, say hi and buy a book.  (Yes, I'm shamelessly trying to promote myself. )

This past week was absolutely beautiful.  Sunshine and blue sky, something we haven't had all summer.  It's been cloudy, cold, and rainy today.  I wouldn't be surprised if we woke up to a little snow in the morning. Yuck. But it is Alaska and it is that time of year.

I have also updated the excerpt on my website, so please check it out if you haven't already....and PLEASE pass on the news about my book to anyone you know.  Thanks!!

Photo above is of Kenai Lake.

Had a fairly nice day today - weatherwise.  It's cloudy now, the norm it seems for this summer.  But I was able to enjoy the sun for a couple hours this afternoon.

Guy spent the day in a safety training class to get some kind of safety card required to work on the North Slope/Prudhoe Bay.  He's going to try for a job up north which would mean working 2 or 3 weeks up there at a time and then having 2 or 3 weeks home.  It would also mean pretty good pay and benefits.  That would be nice.

Kids are doing fine. Ezra got his first decent pay check.  Unfortunately, a good chunk of it went to his car insurance. :) He's starting to learn that life ain't cheap.  Thomas got his hair cut today.  Not so shaggy looking now.  He's been reading up a storm this summer, hitting the library every chance he gets.

Work is work.  Nothing really new there.  I still have my book I'm going through as I proof it.  I should be able to get it in the mail on Monday.  Then we'll see what happens next.

Other than that, life is good.

The picture above is of Guy and Thomas on our halibut fishing trip this past 4th of July.  My boss generously paid for us to go on this trip.  Ezra stayed home, but I think he would have had fun if he had gone.  Thomas ended up getting seasick, not overly so, just queasy.  The seas were flat and there was no wind.  The fishing was good, too. Everyone caught their limit.  It was the first time I had ever been on a fishing trip, too, like Thomas.  It was fun.

Things are going well.  It's been a cool summer this year and it seems as if everything is running a few weeks late.  Not all that much going on other than work.  Haven't seen any more bears lately, but I think a lot of them are sticking closer to the streams now that the fish are running good.  A girl on a bike trail in Anchorage was mauled about a week or so ago. Haven't heard how she is doing, but she was in kind of bad shape when they got her to the hospital.

I've received the final proof of my book in the mail.  It's the actual book - at least what it's going to look like once all the little "things" are fixed.  I'm going through it now with a red pen and marking any mistakes that there might be.  The book is bigger than I thought it would be.  Pretty cool. :)

That's it for now.  I'll post more later.  Hope everyone had a safe and happy fourth of July. :)
