Last day of May already and I see I haven't updated this blog thingy since the end of January.
Guy was out of work for several months and only recently has gone back to work for Owen's Inspections. He's still looking for another job as this one isn't too stable and doesn't provide benefits. So, if anyone knows of a job....
Thomas and Ezra made it through another year of school. Thomas is enjoying being off and being lazy. I think its a genetic thing with him. Ezra, however, has landed himself a job working for a sign maker here in Palmer. He's going to be learning how to make different kinds of signs, like yard arms and the such for real estate companies. I'm sure he will do other kinds as well. He's all excited about making money. He got paid yesterday and had to fork over part of it for his cell phone bill. I told him he has to pay for that as well as his car insurance and buy his own gas. He's finding out rather quickly just how far money doesn't go.
As for me, I'm learning a new job at work in the infusion center. I'm learning how to mix chemo drugs and help prepare pre-meds and get things ready for the infusion nurse. It's really quite interesting, and I really like it. A nice change from paperwork and will be great for future job prospects should we ever move.
As for my book, it is now in the layout stage. It's gone through the editing process and the book cover has been designed and approved by me. Supposedly, it will take a month for layout and once I approve the layout design, then it will go to the printers. Once there, it will take four to six weeks to get it printed and then another four to six weeks will be spent on marketing and getting the book out in stores. So, if my estimations are correct, I'm thinking it will be on the shelves in September or October. I am posting a copy of the book cover on my site, so everyone can get a good look at it. I will, eventually, be posting links to sites where it can be bought online. Of course, it will be available to purchase from tatepublishing.com, the company who is publishing my book. If purchased from Tate, I will get a bigger percentage of the royalties, so I urge you to buy it from them.
Other than that, life is good. Spring has finally made an appearance. A very long winter we had this year. But everything is green and pretty now, but it could stand to be a tad warmer.
Bears are out big time. Last weekend, coming home from the Peninsula (Kenai), we saw four black bears coming around Turnagain Arm. One was right close to the road, the other three were up on the side of the mountain. Dad told me just yesterday that a friend of his who lives right off the Sterling Highway between Sterling and Soldotna had a brown bear take down a moose calf and eat it in his yard. Other friends who live about a mile or so away had a couple brown bears get in their chicken coop and eat all their chickens. Mom and dad had a black bear amble through their yard a couple weeks ago late at night, as well. So they are out thick this year, it seems.
Time for me to get busy. I will try to get back on soon and update again - at least about my book.
